Turn Sound Into Anything
With its massive global audience, TikTok is more than a platform—it’s a cultural engine. Back in late 2020, Hueso had the privilege of working on TikTok's "Turn Sound Into Anything" campaign, the company’s first effort to create communication content beyond its creators. For this project, 1stAveMachine partnered with four directors, each bringing a unique style, to craft a dynamic and textured visual identity for the platform poised to dominate social media.
With a strong foundation in design, Hueso explored two ideas: a 90s-inspired mixed-media bumper blending stop-motion, cel animation, and 3D; and a multi-instrument shaped like TikTok’s glyph, designed to play any track. Each film was animated to a specific song—"Mr. Blue Sky" by Electric Light Orchestra and "Funny Thing" by Thundercat—bringing sound and visuals into perfect sync.
At its core, this project was about play—about letting sound lead and seeing where it could take the studio. It was also a rare opportunity to step outside familiar disciplines, collaborate with new talent, and build unexpected creative connections in a shared space of exploration.
