Brand Design Refresh
With more than 2 billion users in over 180 countries, WhatsApp is one of the largest and most popular messaging apps in the world.
As part of our collaboration with WhatsApp for their Global Privacy Campaign, we had the privilege of working with and expanding their new design system. We were fortunate to be entrusted with the creation of the Brand Design Refresh reel - a launch film that unveiled WhatsApp's new identity to the world.
The main challenge was for the film to strike a balance between feeling and information. So everything came down to language. How do we communicate a design decision to an audience that may not be familiar with or interested in design? Should we display a color palette with numeric values, or should we use a rainbow-colored voice message instead?
